Site Evaluation

Reddit

  • The structure of Reddit is a simple navigation at the top with a search section and links to personal profile. Reddit contains post for multiple forms posted by individuals around the world. Content is sorted into forms such as r/AskReddit, r/IAmA, and r/science. There is a form page for about everything. Reddit has a simple design with article looking sections that can be clicked on to read more information. Each post is displayed by the form location, title, likes, comments, and share button. It has a dark and lite setting. Reddit provides easy navigation and visibility to the user. The main URL for Reddit is reddit.com. I enjoy the easy navigation of Reddit as well as how easily it connects individuals online. I dislike Reddits search engine you will have an easier time finding specific posts or forms by going to google and search with site: reddit.com. I would deffenity change the search engine on Reddit. I would also enjoy the ability to customize the design of my own feed.

Active Listening

The key to active listening is understanding what the other person is saying and asking questions when you don’t understand. Within the case study the manager showed his employees he understood their censures and emphasized with what they said. Active listening helps save time within a job and organize a project. We will use active listening next semester to fully understand what our clients want to accomplish and communicate with our team.

The drawing assignment was fairly straight forward. All of my groups assignments came out accurate. Communication is key.

Case Study

The case study explained the importance of connected with the individual you are speaking to. Insure they know you understand their feeling and knowledge. Don’t listen to reply listen to understand.

Google Power Search Notes

  • When using Google Search Click on the Tools tab in order to view filters for search results.
  • Searching for the same topic multiple time using different wording helps specify the search.
  • [site:.edu] using the site: filter you can filter by site address.
  • [filetype:txt] using filetype: you can filter by type of file.
  • “-” negative before a word will take the word out of the search.
  • Using “” around phrases to search for the phrase together.
  • Use Or to include more than one way to express an idea.
  • Google has many operators to help filter your search.
  • Us WHOIS to identify the owner of a site.

Using power search tools one can find credible and accurate information. For example if I have a school project I can use Power Search in order to find articles only published under .edu sites or sort down to only the information I need.
